Wood Fence/Screen and Bench Material - Patio Garden

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.49 PM

Hi I am looking for a wood fence/ screen to cover a wall in the garden and have a fence on top of it. What is the material/ product that would last the longest and require the least maintenance? We are also looking to install a bench on one wall of the patio. What is the material/ product that would last the longest and require the least maintenance for the bench as well? Thanks

Tanalised timber is your best bet, often just called 'treated', it should last 15 years without maintenance but painting or treating will make it look nicer and last longer. One of the coloured stains from Ronseal looks nice and protects well. Check the colours of Ronseal though, the colour on the tin is often not what the wood will look like after painting! They have a gold/rust coloured one which to be honest is a bad orange...

Good Afternoon All wood will require some sort of maintenance. Hardwood less so than soft wood, would you consider a composite material?
