Loft Conversion
bought house with loft room, now neighbour is claiming that this damaged their property?
Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.15 PM
bought the house with a 3 bed semi with a loft room. This room has only ever been used for storage (even by the previous owner), we had decided to sell. It was on the market for 8 weeks in 2016 -we removed when winter was coming and decided to try again in 2017. Subsequent to putting the property up for sale, my neighbour was refused planning permission for an extension and has now asked for indemnity policy for an extension (to the loft). We have not carried out any work on the loft since we moved in. What can we do?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
This should have been brought up by your surveyor and solicitor, so the best thing to do is go back to them.
If you have not done anything since buying it, then you have no worries.

do you know if there was planning consent on this if there was its all legal and if someone is asking you to sort out this problem if there was not planning then they are wrong and they will have to find the previous occupants and take it up with them i also think you should seek legal help to be extra safe
