Can I swap fused switch for a mains socket?

In my kitchen I have a fused switch that controls a single mains socket below the kitchen counter, which the fridge plugs in to. I'm wondering if it's possible to swap out the fused switch for a mains socket instead.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Contrary to the previous replies, possibly not. If the socket where the fridge is plugged in is not accessible without moving the fridge, then no you can't. In this case it must have a separate point of isolation. If it's easily accessible then this would be fine, unless it is already a spur from a ring circuit in which case you would be creating a spur off a spur, which is not permitted. Best get a professional to look at the exact set up.
