What light fixtures will hold a BR30 bulb?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.08 PM
I want to buy a LiFX reassessed bulb because it can be controlled remotely via WiFi (and I already have other bulbs in the same brand) but it's a BR30 bulb which i am not familiar with. Does anyone know what light fixture I could buy in the UK that would be compatible with a BR30 bulb? Are they similar to PAR30 or R95? UPDATE: Thank you for the answers, but what do I search for to find the right fixture which can be recessed to hold this bulb?

BR (for bulged reflector) bulbs are lamps with “wide flood” beam angles, which means that they provide more than a 45 degree angle when lighting an area.
PAR (short for Parabolic Aluminised Reflector) bulbs are available in different light beam angles
Though PAR 30 bulbs offer more options for lighting, both PAR and BR LED lamps are made to easily replace the energy-stealing halogen and incandescent lights. Because of this, both bulbs have the same medium (E26 Edison Screw) base.
The numbers after PAR and BR, like 30, stand for 1/8th of an inch. To find the diameter of the lamp, just divide the number after it by 8: e.g., the diameter of a BR 30 bulb is 30/8ths of an inch, or 3.75 inches in diameter.
Any light fitting that accepts a PAR30 or Edison Screw base will work with this lamp.Hope this helps. Marcus
