Fencing

Decoration on fences

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.27 PM

Hi I try to put some decoration on fences on my side of garden. The all fences are shared. In the middle of job my neighbour comming and say that I am not allowed to put anything on fences. It's ridiculous because it is my side of garden and a lot people around have dome decoration. What can I do about it? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

So long as what you do has absolutely no effect on their side of the fence and will not weaken the fence at all, you can ignore them. If their property is rented, talk to the owner and ask them to talk to the tenant. If you own the property, check which fence is yours and decorate it however you like so long as it is not offensive. If you are a tenant then ask your landlord for permission.

As long as it dose not effect the fence in any way and you have permission from the property owner you can do as you please

Hmmm all very well painting or staining fences but invariably the paint or stain in particular as its more fluid in movement than paint will come through the other side of the fencing upsetting the neighbour, advise talk to the person on the other side of the fence 1st and maybe agree to treat both sides.
