How to balance my central heating
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.48 PM
One of my radiators is not giving off heat properly. The rad is hot at the top and lukewarm at the bottom. I have bled the rad but it is still the same. What do I do?

Probable causes, but not limited to the following:
1. Sticking TRV (if fitted)
2. Poor circulation due to sludge/debris in that radiator and or pipework
3. System requires re-balancing
4. Or all of the above
If you do not feel confident undertaking the above then contact your local heating engineer instead

This could be due to the radiator having sludge build up in the radiator. Cold radiators at the bottom and having to vent them is a sign of a dirty/sludge in the system. Sounds as though the system needs power flushing.
