Installation of 2 appliances

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.48 PM

I want to buy a dishwasher, however, thought that it would have to be a compact model, because the only space I have available is a distance away from the sink. However, since then, I have been told that it might be possible to buy a gadget that allows 2 appliances, i.e. washing machine and dishwasher to run off one pipe under the sink. Is this at all possible and how would you install a dishwasher, that isn't situated next to the sink? I would be most grateful for any advice and if it can be done; is it an expensive task? I would then, obviously, appreciate it if somebody from this site, wished to undertake the job. Lastly, in your expertise; can you recommend a good "slimline" dishwasher, that would fit in the space where a freestanding cooker would usually be situated. I trust this makes sense, thank you for taking the time to help me and I look forward to hearing from you.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Saz, This is all possible. You can use a y splitter to convert the washing machine tap to give two supplies. If the machine is going to be further away than the standard hose will reach you will need extension hoses for both the supply and waste connections. Depending on how the washing machine waste is currently connected you may need a new sink trap or an adaptor to allow connection of two waste hoses. As far as choice of machine goes I would just measure the available space and then have a look somewhere like Appliances Online to read reviews of machines within your budget. Best of luck, Rob
