Washing machine waste pipe backing up but no sign of blockage

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.27 PM

I've recently moved into a property and connected my washing machine but when the programme goes into drain the waste water is leaking out the vent hole in the T-junction where the waste pipe from the washer meets the stand pipe. I've checked the standpipe and U-bend and neither are blocked. I've also tried pouring large jugs of water straight down the main waste pipe (which the standpipe and ubend eventually connect to) and the water seems to flow down ok. All my other waste water - which connect at different points (e.g. dishwasher and bathroom) are draining fine and when I disconnect the T-junction and allow to drain direct into a bucket the water flows out fine. Have you any ideas what might be wrong?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi This maybe because the grey waste pipe fro your washer is too close to the bend when pushed in which is causing this to shoot back as this drains pretty quick. the pipe does need to be 42mm also if possible you could have a separate outlet pipe to mains drain for your washer as some washers have quite a lot of power wen draining and sends the water back to the diversion valve
