Bathroom Fitting

Will we need a false wall to hide pipe work for a victorian style shower?

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.08 PM

We currently have an shower cubicle (pod) and we are wanting to take this completely out and fit a shower over a bath. The shower that we want is a Victorian exposed valve with rigid riser, and will be on an exterior wall. Will we need to create a false wall or can the pipe work be embedded into the wall with the pump under the bath (or in the loft)?

Hi there, Yes the pipework can be embedded in the wall no problem. As for the location of the pump this will depend on your current stored water setup but it would normally be positioned near the hot water cylinder. Under the bath is probably not best for access and maintenance. A plumber will be able to advise once they've had a look at how your pipework is set out. Best of luck, Rob

Yes the pipework is fine to be burried in the wall as long as its insulated to protect the pipe from the brick and sharp parts and the pump can go in loft or under bath depending on space and electric accessibility

Yes the pipes can be recessed into the wall but you will need to put denzo tape on the pipes to stop corrosion
