rules related to fire door requirements in garden flat

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

Does anyone know the rules on requirements for flats to have fire doors and in which rooms? I have a ground floor garden flat, which is part of a two story terraced house. Going in circles trying to find a clear answer on whether fire doors are needed and for what rooms. looking to replace all doors and frames. many thank, josh

If you are on a ground floor flat and have more than one exit from the property I.E a rear door the only requirement under building regulations would be a FD30 fire door to the Kitchen and normally if you join onto a communal corridor a FD30 front door as soon as you start to go higher the requirement's change as does the escape meaning every habitable room including bathrooms requires a fire door hope this helps. you can also bring up current building regs on the computer and carry out a search. The simple answer is to ring your local council and ask for building regs. They will give you the best answer there is available as they are the ones who enforce it.
