What is the mark up on Howdens kitchens?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.48 PM
hi, we are looking at installing a new kitchen and most builders recommend Howdens. The only problem is there is no transparency on the prices so we really don't know what we are going to be charged when looking at the various designs. How much is the mark up that Traders normally put to the Kitchens? and other than Howdens are there any other companies that you would recommend?

Unfortunately this is an impossible question to answer. Howdens set up different discount rates depending on the volumes tradesmen buy over a year and individuals can decide how much they want to charge on top. Its really a case of deciding if you trust the tradesman that is going to supply and install your kitchen. There are many makes of kitchen on the market, some cheaper, some more expensive than Howdens offering different levels of quality. Cheapest at the beginning isnt always cheapest in the long run and the saying `you get what you pay for` applies very well in kitchens.

Howdens branches compete with each other and therefore prices can vary between branches. Loyalty is shown to contractors who direct customers to them or buy from them regularly. It is unlikely that an end user will receive the same price as a contractor.Flat pack prices are cheaper from howdens but many people go to b and q for flat pack if price is the main issue but if quality is the main issue, get ready made units from howdens via a kitchen fitter with an account.
