pant peeling from freshly plastered walls

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

I decorated my daughters bedroom after it was plastered and the paint is peeling. I painted it with watered down emulsion first and then applied the top coat. I'm wanting to redo it and am wanting to know the best way to go about it. Can I apply plaster sealant on top of the paint or will I need to peel it all off first, or is there a better way?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi I have all ways given freshly plastered walls a coat of pva Then painted the walls. This helps seals the walls and cleans any dust that stops the paint from sticking.Hope this helps

Sounds like there is some sort of reaction to the paint applied , first I would rub down a small area that has been affected ,apply acyrlic primer undercoat just buy a one litre tin ,let it dry then repaint the area with your emulsion if this covers the area then problem solved (and the primer undercoat can be used at a later date to woodwork ,so no waste of money If this fails then again rub down with sandpaper affected area apply Zinnser stain block (solvent based ) let it dry for 20 mins then repaint the walls this will sort out the problem but cost you slightly more money
