Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.48 PM

Hey everyone, I have a question...do you hang a toilet roll holder onto the tiles or through the grout lines? Ta, Matt.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, You can do both if done properly! Always mark up and then place tape where you have marked this insures the tile does not chip, also use the correct drill bit.

Hi all, Do you hang a toilet roll holder on the tiles or through the grout, that is the question.Where possible drill through the tiles as when drilling through the grout joints there is a risk of the drill bit catching and cracking your tiles. Before drilling holes in any surface be aware of pipes and cables. Regards Brookfield property maintenance.

We prefer to avoid drilling in grout lines so our recommendation would be to go through the tile. Use the correct drill bit and note depending on the make, different drill bits are designed for different drill speeds to ensure efficient cutting.

Hi, I would drill into the tile, using a drill bit made especially for tiles, with a carbon steel tip, Wickes do them quite cheaply. They are much easier to drill than think they are going to be. If you drill between the grout lines you risk cracking and chipping the edges of the tiles even with the correct drill bit, but with care, it can be done if you really want to.
