Adhesives and Silicon Seals for UPVC Windows Trims
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.08 PM
What adhesives and silicon seals do UPVC Windows/Door fitters use to fix the trims all around? And what is the best and easiest way to remove old trims and silicons?

The best to use is Dow corning silicone as it is very hard wearing. If the old sealant does not come off easily the best way is to cut out with Stanley knife as much as possible taking care not to damage the frame. Then apply a little dot of silicone remover to a corner of the frame to test if it would change(stain) the pvc.As long as colour stays the same you can safely use the silicone remover along the hard to remove areas and follow the instructions on the remover. For sticking details of pvc on pvc I would use mitre fix moment glue like Howdens brand for example
