Zanussi dishwasher internal leak - water released from black&grey pipes?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.48 PM

Hi there! I have a slim Zanussi dishwasher, model ZDV 12001, about 4 years old. It recently stopped working some minutes into a cleaning cycle, with an alarm sounding. I realised the anti-flood device had been triggered, and sure enough the drip tray at the bottom had water. I cleaned it out and was able to start the dishwasher again, this time I lay on the floor to watch it with a torch for the first five minutes of the cycle. Sure enough, a few minutes in, the black and grey pipes both in the picture started pumping water into the drip tray, not for long, but just enough to trigger the anti-flood device. I've attached a photo with the pipes circled in red showing the ends where they both leaked. As it was both pipes and I can't see damage, it looks like it was a deliberate mechanism by the dishwasher somehow. Can you share any suggestions? Would really love to get this fixed! Thank you!

You could have a blockage internally in dishwasher causing relief pipework to discharge water try disconnecting waste pipe and blowing into machine, clear out sump waste and take off connections to waste pump and look for obstruction. Turn power off to machine before you try any of the above but if you dont feel competent contact a domestic appliance engineer.
