My builder has quoted me more money because the floor is concrete

Hi, can I pick your brains on something. My builder has quoted me more money to build an insulated subfloor for a conservatory because the current floor is concrete, is this right ? Do you think it would be possible for me to ask him if he can build the floor using "pad" so not having to dig the whole area, noting that the ground level is very similar to the main house floor. Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I assume from this that you want the floor to be warmer..? To achieve this you will need to either heat the floor, so under floor heating and then something over the top, or if you are trying to keep the same floor level, you will need to have the floor out to make space to bring the new insulated floor to height. The floor would feel warmer if you simply put floorboards down because wood is warmer than concrete. Your man probably wants more money because he made the error of assuming there was not a solid floor under your conservatory, seems strange and a very novice error, but there you go. If it were my conservatory I'd put 25mm polystyrene down between battens at 400mm centres and then floorboards...
