Resolve damp uneven brick floor to Victorian wash outhouse.

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

The brick floor is original, there is no membrane or dpc to walls. I have lifted a few bricks they are bedded on sand. I would like some advice on how to resolve the above, thanks.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there , I would say you need the floor ripped out and a new sub floor put in , with dpc , 100mm king span and 100mm concrete, if there is riseing damp from the ground spreading up the walls as well you will need damp proof corse enjected into the wall to stop it this , thanks jordan.

Dependant on the final finish you require and final use I would suggest the following: 1. Take up bricks, remove sand dig down to ensure finish level works, Then small hardcore compacted, concrete, DPM membrane, insulation and then sand and cement screed. Damp proof course to be injected. 2. If brick finish to match then same as above except instead of screed bed bricks into 20-25mm sharp sand bed and either point up with sand and cement when complete or brush sand in, this would only be for an external use not recommended if part of the house. Hope this is of use. Regards Steve
