How to fix walls where the last decorator painted straight onto new plaster?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.47 PM
My new house was decorated to sell following an extension. Magnolia everywhere. Whoever decorated it took a shortcut and painted straight onto the newly plastered walls without priming or misting. First I knew of it was when I took one of the kids' stickers off the wall and took a strip of paint away with it. Is there anything else I can do apart from use a paint scraper to get back to the plaster and then do the job properly? Problem is that I know every wall in the house is going to be the same... Thanks for any advice!

It sounds like a contract emulsion has been applied throughout, these are used mainly on new plaster but not at all durable and when stickers are applied it will remove the paint coating back to bare plaster
to redecorate the full house would be expensive !
what you need to do is where the stickers have been removed to sand down the rough edges and apply a fine surface polyfilla its sold in little tubs at any trade centre then rub down and repaint the wall with a vinyl matt finish this will be more durable and will blend in with your decoration
unfortunately if stickers are placed on top of any modern emulsion paint it will remove the paint film due to the adhesive being stronger than the paint film
if your looking for a fantastic durable paint for the walls the best product is Dulux diamond matt
