Will I damage my new artificial lawn if I put plant pots and garden furniture on it

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.08 PM

I recently had a good quality artificial lawn laid and it looks great. I also had Indian sandstone flagging and I am reluctant to put my pot plants and garden furniture on this, but wondered if they would damage my new artificial lawn too My plant pots stand in saucers and my garden furniture is wrought iron, painted with hammerite. What is safe to do to accessorise my new garden? Thanks in advance Update to thank you Thanks Craig, I begin to think a racehorse would need less maintenance and care than my Indian Sandstone. I will need to check frequently that the hammerite is not worn off the under feet. ;-) My shoes are not that hard to keep and I have a lot of shoes!

Hi just be careful when putting pots onto artificial grass as the plant inside may root through the holes in the bottom and into your lawn, as for your paving as long as you've given it plenty time to settle it should be fine to hold your garden furniture make sure your metal furniture isn't rusty as it could stain the flag stones. hope that helps :) kind regards Craig Forrest (Forrest Groundworks)

Ideally you want the artificial lawn to look aesthetically pleasing for a long duration. I would recommend placing pots around the bed(s) of this lawn, this will stop the grass from compressing down. If that is the case apply a few bags of sharp sand on the artificial grass and brush it through, the sand will ensure the grass sticks in an upright position, regards.
