Painting over patches of paint

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.08 PM

I've just started painting my ceiling white and when doing the edges I've gone down onto the walls. Will I need to paint all the walls white or will I be able to paint over the top of it? Don't want my colour to have patches if there's white paint underneath. My wall colour currently is a light beige and I'm going to a mustard yellow. Thank you

As long as you use a decent quality paint with good obliteration properties they'll be no problem. Some of the cheap paints may not cover it well and you'll see a halo effect where the ceiling paint is showing through. Therefore, spend a bit more on the paint and you'll require less coats.
