gas fire removed, banging in walls in bad weather

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

Housing association removed my gas fire, sealed the opening. Thereafter, deep grinding, banging noises between the internal, and external wall during windy weather. Tradesmen removed vent on roof, replaced to a covered tile, but noise still remains. What should be done to stop this? Please.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there, it sounds like the flue liner is hanging loose and blowing around when a draught gets in now that it isn't secured to the gas fire. If it can be secured in place, top and bottom then it shouldn't move, or it can be taken out completely. Best of luck, Rob
