UPVC door draughty
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.08 PM
Hi we replaced a UPVC door just short of a year ago have been unhappy about draughts but blamed our inability to adjust it properly have just found out the draughts are coming from the joint in the seal/beading around the glass panel in the door not from around the frame. Could I ask if this is poor installation or a faulty door and what I could expect as a satisfactory resolution if I can get a response from the company that fitted the door. Thanks in anticipation of an answer.

Hi, would the draught be coming in from the top bottom or sides of the glass panel ?. There is a possibility that the glass hasn't been set evenly in the opening or that it may not be the correct thickness for the profile (this is unlikely but not unheard off). It is worth asking the company responsible for the door to investigate your findings. You should be within their/manufacturers guarantee period. Hope this helps. Mike

Hi, its not your responsibility to have to adjust your new door. if its not adjusted properly or as you say there is a draft coming in, its for whoever supplied and fitted the door to retify the problem. If you used a Certass or Fensa registered company your door should have come with a 10 year insurance backed guarantee and the company will have to put it right. Get them back out to put it right, if they dont you can get Certass or Fensa to sort it out.
Dont ever try to adjust anything thats under guarantee, or it may make your guaratee void.

Hi Maz if you've got a draft coming in where your saying it is the drainage holes on the outside look on the outside of your door and they are usually under the midrail or the bottom of the sash if it opens outwards hope this helps ☺
