Damp Proofing

Damp Garage Roof & Draft

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

Had a poor builder previously do some work regarding building a side car port basically breeze blocking up a wall with roof that was built from timbers and OSB3 boards and felt added on top to stop leaks etc Unfortunately I am now getting mould and damp within the internal part of the roof boards (OSB3). Can anyone advise what actions to take I do require the need to render the breeze blocks that have been used to build the wall externally however what other options do I need to undertake this issue with regards to the mould and damp? Please advise

sound very much like the felt has failed or not been fitted correctly, you need to render the walls and re-board/cover the roof.

Hi guys. I would surgest a paint saloution. Aqua seal is 1 product and i know screwfix do a no nonsence product That will seal all your exposed timbers from the weather. Kind regards Paul

Hi sounds to me without looking like the roof is holding moisture assuming you have a flat roof and internal ceiling However if there is no ceiling as such your problem is in the felt leyers or flashing as no moisture should penetrate this before you render make sure you have a cavity wall if so install a couple oof air bricks to vent the wall 1 high 1 low then render if needed Any more questions feel free to ask Many thanks Barry Btechmaintain
