Widen opening of chimney breast

Hi was wondering how wide I can open my chimney breast up in my kitchen to take a cooker hob , how much brick work will I need to leave on each side the over hall size of the chimney breast is 1330 mm

Hi,
When Making structural alterations it is always best to speak to your structural engineer or architect before hand, but once you have the calculations the sides usually stays in and a lintol or beam is used across the front installed on the appropriate Padstones.
