Plumbing

my boiler keeps losing pressure about 6 times a day

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

my boiler keeps losing pressure I'm topping it up about 6 times a day, the plumber has through elimination said that its is a leak, he put leak sealant in the system which worked better until i switched the upstairs heating on {we have 2 heating thermostats, normally upstairs is off}now we are back to constantly replacing the pressure

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Nicola, leak sealant is only really for a little weep on a joint rather than a leak that requires filling the system that often. If the leak was upstairs you would notice water damage so you need to investigate downstairs pipework thoroughly and also check the presssure relief pipe on the boiler. If there is water coming out of the pipe on the outside wall where the boiler is sited then this valve will need replacing. I hope you get this sorted out soon. Best of luck, Rob

A heating engineer with a thermal imaging camera may be able to trace the leak.
