Restoration & Refurbishment
What building category would a specialist who can remove paint from brickwork come under?
Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.15 PM
We need paint removed from the front of our house, some repointing done and the windows resealed. There isn't a building skill category for this, general restoration and refurbishment is too broad and I can't find reviews for anyone who has done this or specialised in this (though I can see in the trade feedback what needs to be done!)
Can anyone advise? - I've posted the job in London NW2, so feel free to apply!

HI
you can try what Andy above has stated but if this does not work there are different types of blasting I.E Sand, Grit what would be best for your scenario is soda blasting it is Non destructive and used for exactly this job and have had this carried out on a few jobs after depending on the state of the brickwork you could re-point or go the extra mile and cost and go with brick tinting.
Best way is a Google search for mobile soda blasting company
Hope this has helped

Hi I'm Andrew.
I would say it's a job for a decorator or stonemason, I am currently pricing to remove paint from bath stone the product I will be using is stripaway and a jet wash to clean. And have advised to get a stonemason to quote for Stone repairs (pointing), as well as his own method for removing paint on the off chance it might be cheaper for him to do it all.
I hope this helps
Thanks Andy
