How do we check pressure of hot water?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.26 PM

We had a new thermostatic shower mixer installed and it makes a knocking noise that shakes all the pipes when we run the hot water. We've been advised the hot and cold water pressures aren't properly balanced through it by the shower's manufacturer. Our mains water pressure is 5 bar. Our hot water is from a Worcester Bosch 32CDi combi boiler. How do we know what the pressure from the hot is, to balance the cold with it? Also, we just had another new shower installed in the loft conversion, but a different brand and that seems fine. How can the pressure be unbalanced for one but not the other? Also, we just had a second new

sounds like water hammer from unclipped pipes, check filters in shower, your cold water to combi boiler may be reduced to 3 bar,if it is pressure difference you can fit pressure reducing valve to cold, you can buy pressure test kit it fits on tap from most plumbers merchants.some showers can accomadate a 5 to 1 ratio of unequal pressure.

You will need to purchase yourself a Flow Measuring cup, this will measure your flow rate of water at litres per minute, between 10-15 is classed average &15 above is classed good. you can also use the measuring cup to see what flow rate is coming out of the cold / hot, compare the flow rate between them both. It sounds like there is some unclipped pipes somewhere!!
