Why electricians are not showing their wiring skills?

This is a good question. Generally if an Electrician wants to post pictures of their work, it will be pictures of what's visible to the customer, i.e. light fixtures, sockets, switches etc. We may even take a photo of a newly installed Consumer Unit, but with the cover on. We wouldn't normally show the inside of the Consumer Unit, where all the wiring & connections are, maybe because it's assumed that the customer isn't interested in this. However, you make a good point, a picture showing what's behind the covers & under the floors would display to the customer how conscientious a tidy Electrician is. A lecturer at college once asked why wiring should be neat if nobody's ever going to see it, after everybody pondering over it for a while he then said 'if a job is done neatly, there's a good chance is going to be right'. It certainly made us all think.

I agree entirely with the comments posted by D Clements Electrical. I would further add that tidy wiring also makes tracing and fault finding much easier. Something I say to all my staff of varying trades is 'think of the next man!' If a tradesman makes a tidy job, they take pride in their work and that is who I would want working in my home or for my company!!

I'm just wondering who would be interested in seeing pictures of cables going through joists, chases in the wall, a loft with about a foot of insulation in it, etc etc. Not only that, maybe we havnt the time to take pics, too busy getting the house put back together, boards down and safe for the customer and tidying up. Just a thought.

To be perfectly honest to me and many other electricians it tends to be more a case of completing a job signing it off and moving onto the next one most basic rewires don't often have much to show other nice lighting features bearing that in mind most people often think I will get some good pictures of this and most of the time we never get round to taking many however this being said if you use a registered electrican they are assed ever year and the governing body napit , niceic etc .... can pick any of the jobs we have done or are doing and will go and inspect them so that often keeps sparks doing a good job. You could always ask for feedback from other customers to give you peace of mind
