Am I being impatient or taken for a mug?

Thank you Chris for answering. I don't know how to comment so updating here. Spoke to him and he tried saying he's not been on the job as he's had to take on other work to pay off MY debts. Also said he won't be back to complete for at least three weeks and still hasn't confirmed how much extra money he needs again. Needless to say I wasn't happy! Am cutting my losses and going to source someone here to pay to finish the job for me and will never go local again. I've had external rendering done, whole house. Granted I had it started at wrong time of year (November) so accept that there would have been some delay. However, it's now February and job is still unfinished. Am £750 over budget already and guy hasn't come back in almost three weeks, apparently needs more money for supplies AND wages. Am at my wits end as different quoter gave similar price and said would take around (approx) ten days to complete work. Went with someone local on recommendation of quality of work, which is really good, and he's a great guy but I just want my house back now three months in and really can't afford more money. Am so regretting the whole thing but scared to confront as we both live in tiny village and could just make life uncomfortable from now on in. I think I've been more than patient, no expectation of work over Christmas period or when really cold or wet but surely three weeks no show at a time and over three months to render small house is taking the biscuit? Any advice appreciated.
