Fitter has not lifted skirting boards

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

He's half way through fitting lvt floor boards, however as you can imagine the edging us gaps. He says I need to get edging, I can't go through the expense and headache of getting them all lifted and starting with someone else. Is the best remedy edging/beading? They're glue on lvt floor boards. Gutted :(

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi I would recommend you to get the edge beading that runs around the perimeter of skirting to hide the expansion gaps the fitter has left as it will be less time consuming to take floor up then skirting off to relay the floor refit the skirting.

If it's a dry back LVT then it should be cut tight to the skirting, if there is a visible gap it needs to be re-fitted.

Hi lvt is luxury vinyl tiles they are glued to the sub floor they should be fitted tight up against the skirting or walls. Depending on the size of the gap you might be able to simply silicone the Edges which you would do with lvt any way. The only flooring that would need beading of some sort is laminate/wood flooring and that's because of expansion. Hope this helps.
