Oven wiring question - can 16 amp oven be installed

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

Hello, My old oven needs replacing, it's hard wired and it 13 amps. A new oven that i'd like is 16 amp. An electrician looked at the wiring in my kitchen and said it would be easier to buy a new 13 amp oven because the oven hasn't got it's own circuit and to rewire is a major job. I phoned the company that sells the 16 amp oven asking if they had any 13 amp ones. The sales man told me that if I use something like this: http://seaflo-uk.com/13-amp-plug---16-amp-socket-fly-lead-hook-up-converter-camping-caravan-motorhome-524-p.asp Then there's no need for any rewiring and I could buy the 16 amp oven. Is this right? Any help/suggestions welcome.

So, the salesman knows better than the electrician? You would be better off taking the Sparks advice, or, choose another under 3kw, as a like for like swap, as what a caravan hook up has to do with all this I havnt a clue.

The electrician is right The salesman is a salesman. Either get another 13A oven or have a oven circuit installed.
