Oven wiring question - can 16 amp oven be installed

Hello, My old oven needs replacing, it's hard wired and it 13 amps. A new oven that i'd like is 16 amp. An electrician looked at the wiring in my kitchen and said it would be easier to buy a new 13 amp oven because the oven hasn't got it's own circuit and to rewire is a major job. I phoned the company that sells the 16 amp oven asking if they had any 13 amp ones. Is this right? Any help/suggestions welcome.
