Yes some wallpaper can be springy. It's best to make sure the wall is sanded and smooth to provide a key. Make sure you paste the edge of the paper as much as you can and use a seam roller or the back of your nail when applying the paper to the wall. I hope this helps

First step-you need to apply pva on surface with roller (50%pva 50% water)paste will not dry that fast and you can play with stitches after time .
Second step-apply paste with roller, make sure surface or wallpaper is covered all the way and same amount all areas.
Third step-DON'T squeeze paste out under wallpaper, that is a key!!!Just smoth paste under wallpaper and leave it .the paste will hold wallpaper and will not let shrink wallpaper until it's dry .
At this case you just squeezed paste out and you didn't apply pva coat wall sucked paste into wall and wallpaper shrunk.

Make sure that the wall is sized the day before you go to wallpaper and ensure that the edges of the wallpaper are properly covered with paste . If the walls are not sealed it tends to pull the paste off the wallpaper and suck it into the wall causing shrinkage and gaps at the edge of the wallpaper.
On wallpaper that isn't paste the wall ,wallpaper allow the wallpaper time to soak adequately as per manufacturer instructions before hanging. Don't forget to fold the wallpaper over at both ends to stop the paste drying out whilst it soaks the paper.
