Paint ceiling to remove "patchy/shadowy" areas
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.07 PM
Our newly plastered ceilings have had a mist coat and two coats of Leyland Trade Super Leytex High Opacity Matt. They still looks patchy/shadowy in places. Before I post the job, I am looking for a rough estimate as to the cost of painting the ceiling (a third coat!) but by a professional painted decorator. The room is 4.3m x 3.2 (at its widest). What should I be looking to pay for quick professional finishing?

Id be looking more at the plasterers finish... if its rough and uneven then that would cause shadows over it.

I can't help with the pricing on painting I'm afraid but was the plaster fully dried out before it was misted?

As l.w.s suggests above , was it dry ?
I like to leave two weeks after new plaster before painting a miss coat .
Sometimes you do get plaster patches that don't adhere paint easily which I guess I put down to an overwork by the plasterer over stubborn areas which leaves it very shiney . A light sand before paint long helps .
A ceiling of that size for one final coat would be about £80 from me as I assume the place is all taped up and dust sheetedetc as you've done three jobs on it now . It's not a lot of area .
