lime render with a mesh then using a Greek/Venetian plaster product from a tub.

Been told this is compatible for a 150 yr old lime renders house. At present state it could be filled and painted imho but a plasterer swears by this method of mesh bonded on and the a plaster applied and floated or troweled to be as rough or smooth as wanted and with a pigment colour so not to be painted ?? Not sure on this method as the finished sample had black trowel marks in it but he said that can be rectified.

To be honest using the lime plaster from a tub is a good method really.saves making it up your self used on listed buildings cost is more plus takes a long time to go off as for the black trowel marks ?? I would have thought he should have finished it to same finish as the existing hope this helps
