Euro cylinder on French door
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.33 PM
Two French doors but only one has a cylinder key lock. The other door simply has two metal slides on the inside to open. I'm trying to replace the cylinder and have removed the large retaining screw and still the barrel won't come out. Any ideas

The cam on a euro cylinder is always slightly off set so even after taking the screw out it will not just slide out. Put the key in the lock and pull it with a bit of pressure and slowly turn the key. when the cam is straight the cylinder will slide out of the door.

You will need to put the key in the lock and turn it slightly so the cam lines up with the lock body. When thinking of the face of a clock, turn the key to either ten to or ten past the hour whilst pulling the lock out slightly. When the cam is in the correct position the lock will slide out. Once out you will be able to see how the cam lines up when refitting the lock.
