Hi I would personally go for the 2.5 ton machine because if you hit heavy clay or a thick concrete slab a 1.5 ton will not have the power to dig or move it.

1.5 to get in to smaller spaces ideal for extensions etc the 2.5 doesn't fit in your average 3 bed terrace garden and minimises your swing area getting the bigger machine would limit you most 1.5 ton machines are powerfull enough to overcome the hardiest of digs on domestic properties hope this helps

I would personally consider if you can tow the digger to sites first every site has access issues .you would be better with the 2.5 tonne machine for footings and drainage .just consider you need different machines for site situations.kind regards mark

I would go the 2.5 ton machine its it has a lot power coming to any big tree stumps or heavy clay or concrete don't get me wrong the 1.5 would do same job but when your a bit underpowered it can make things a bit difficult

I would recommend going for a 2.5 just purely for the fact of power difference that it has over the 1.5, if you come up against something difficult to dig through then you will struggle.

2.5 ton digger would be the ideal digger for me , sometimes you won’t get in to some areas , but a .8 ton digger isn’t expensive for a couple of days to hire .

It depends what sort of work you are doing you might be better of to hire to start and see what you use the most if you have tight spaces maybe a 0.8 is your better option but if it's big spaces you will be better off with a 2.5 or drives and easy access footings a 1.5

Hi there. All depends on the work your looking at doing. Soft turf hardcore etc a 1.5 is okay however in harder clay or bell metal ground you’re going to struggle with a toothed bucket on a 1.5. 2.5/ 3 will be your better bet. Powerful enough to do most jobs and small and convenient enough to dig in awkward places. Hope this helped
