Horrible sound the boiler makes

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

I'll try and embed the video, if that doesn't work I'll just add the link. It's been happening for about 2-3 weeks now, it occurs when we initially turn the heating on for the first time of the day. Any ideas what could be causing the sound? skip to 50 seconds in, thank you in advance. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ys130uZI-v0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> https://youtu.be/Ys130uZI-v0

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Thanks for the home made horror movie, I think your going to need a Priest! The boiler is a early Worcester Bosch RSF model, from what I can hear is a term called 'kettling' where by sludge/debris contained within the main heat exchanger is not allowing the flow of heating to pass through freely so the water is literally boiling causing this noise and also the boiler to over heat constantly (hence the red warning lights) I would recommend you invite a Gas Safe engineer who specialises in boiler break downs to investigate and advise on what cause of action is required. But please act quickly or you could cause irreversible damage to your boiler!
