Can I reduce the diameter of my upstairs soil pipe vent
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.46 PM
To give me more space in my e-suite I want to re-route; and hide, my 110mm vertical soil pipe vent (exits thru the loft, thru the roof above) within my drywall but was is the smallest I can reduce this vent to? Response to Cadvis3d: Sorry you may have misunderstood my question I want to know if I can reduce the diameter of the vent pipe not the wet part?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can fit a 110mm Air admittance valve, and remove the excess soil pipe only if this method is practical and serves your purpose!
See link below, the fourth image down is a good illustration of what I believe you are attempting to achieve:

It can be boxed in afterwards, buy allow for natural ventilation as the valve does require a dedicated source of air. It allows fresh air in and keeps foul smells from escaping.

If you reduce the vent pipe, you'll start experience a regular blockage problem when your toilet been used.

you could install a saniflow, that would reduce the pipe size - otherwise it has to stay as it is...
