replaced fcu with single switched socket but rcd trips

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.07 PM

I replaced fcu with switched single socket. Needed table lamp. To test I plugged in radio and no problem. Then tried table light and rcd tripped. Tried another table light - same result. Only trips when I switch lights on using light switches, not socket switch. Tried both table lights in other sockets and no problem. Looked carefully at my connections to socket and found no obvious problem. Help please. P.s I have changed single sockets to double and installed single sockets from scratch quite a few times before and never had this problem

Job should be started with basic testing I.E. polarity and insulation, loop test will also be required. So unless you can do these tests I have to recommend you call a registered electrician to do this for you.
