how to connect 15mm thread (3/8" to 15mm reducer) to a 15mm compression joint?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.07 PM

Hi I purchased a tap off amazon which had european fittings and required a 3/8" to 15mm reducer which I have fitted. Now I have the problem of the pipe i am trying to connect to for the water is a 15mm compression fitting. So I am stuck trying to connect two male threads together.I tried a 1/2 inch central heating coupler but this leaks even with lots of ptf wrapped round the threads. All the fittings are tightened as much as they will go but still leak. Is there a flexible hose fitting that I can connect to my water outlet compression joint (I believe is 15mm ) to either my 15mm reducer or directly to the 3/8" end of the tap tails? really stuck at this point as I cant find anything

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can buy tap flexi tails in two different sizes M10 and M12 that have 15mm compression fittings at the end. They sell them in places like B&Q, if you take one of your existing tails with you, you should be able to match the tap ends to either the M10 or M12 variants and have a nice 15mm fitting on the other end. Failing that, you'll need to use a 'bush' from 3/8" to 1/2". This bush will then go into a 1/2" x 15mm female iron. This will give you the fitting to get onto the existing pipework. Use a thread sealing compound on all threads, like loctite 577. Do not use thread sealer on a nut and olvie compression joint, just a wrap of PTFE on the olive will suffice.
