Can you install 4 or 5 Electric showers in a single property
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.15 PM
I'm just wondering if it is possible to install 4/5 electric showers in a single property as I've been told yes and no by different people as i have a project that needs 4 showers and another one coming up that could need up to 5 and need to know that they can be used at the same time and every one will have a good shower

Don't know what the other response is all about. If you are thinking of doing this, get an electrician in to advise, by doing this there would be a severe load issue on a single phase supply, you don't mention what sort of kw rating you are thinking of? Even the lowest ones are 8.5 kw x4 or 5 you are over the 100 amp capacity for which you have for a domestic supply. Unless it's a 3 phase supply? Then you could have them as it would spread over the 3 phases. You havnt given enough information to do it remotely you would need an electrician to assess etc.

Exactly as the 2 above, It would need assessment ideally.
Electric showers draw a high current as it is, generally much more than 1, especially where they could be used at the same time, could cause issues on a standard domestic single phase supply, bearing in mind there are other things in the house also drawing a current.

Electrician would need to assess the incoming supply all as deacon electrial says , also need plumber to check incoming water mains pressure as each shower needs about min 1 bar so if all running simultaneously min 5 bar , doubt you'll be able to do unless pump fitted to maintain supply pressure , and your electric supply won't be enough

a 8.5 kw shower is almost 40 amps on it's own, if the property is 3 phase I still would like to see 1 shower per phase ideally. A good sized un-vented cylinder could feed 2-3 showers depending on the water supply, perhaps consider a cylinder on each floor you would get a much better shower.
