Storage heater spark normal?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

We have a fairly old Creda Storage Heater (model 79151). Its working absolutely fine however the past few mornings when I have woken up I have noticed small sparks within the heater which I can see through the vent at the top (as the room is dark). I have looked online a bit and this could be normal - it just before it is about to turn off (economy 7) Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, any kind of sparks coming from appliances is not a good sign and a potential fire risk. Please get this checked by a qualified Electrician and replaced. You can still buy original style storage heaters like Creda or there is a modern version that are made to look like Central heating radiators. Sparks not good, will cause connection overheating and finally wires burning. Get electrician to clean electrical contacts with fine sand paper or tiny file.
