Skim walls & imperfections/dents etc
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.07 PM
Will having a skim coat of plaster on my walls hide all the many years of imperfections? Will this also address hairline cracking? Any issues with skimming over painted walls (not matt paint, walls are soft sheen)?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The skim coat will cover up all small imperfections but will not take out any large undulations in the walls. Regards to the hairline cracks. If skim tape is used and then Bond it/Blue grit is used instead of PVA this should prevent nearly all hairline cracks. Hairline cracks can appear over time on nearly any surface though due to thermal movement.

The plaster skim coat will cover up small imperfections ,but the bigger undulations in the wall i wouldn't be taken out,as for the hairline cracks, use the Plaster joint skim tape bond it well with any sealer you using.the hairline cracks may appear after the years depending on the movement of the walls.
