Damp Proofing

Damp on top of cavity wall at one side of conservatory

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.26 PM

Hi We had a conservatory built about 8 years ago with a full height cavity wall at one side. There are damp patches at the top of the wall in the mid section and near to the front of the conservatory. The wall is topped with concrete coping stones with lead flashing. The flashing appears to be in good condition. The damp has been there for a few years but doesn't appear particularly serious or to be spreading quickly and so we have not dealt with it as soon as we should have. Any ideas as to the likey cause and remedy.

The only way any water can get through a cavity wall is if something is in the cavity bridging the 2 skins... My guess is that something got left in the cavity during installation or a wall tie has been put in sloped inward.
