Wall looks too smooth where I've patched it
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.15 PM
Hello, Hope you can help. I've filled in some holes in my wall where sockets use to be and repainted. Even though I have done it with a roller (like the rest of the wall) the repaired holes have a different texture to the rest of the walls and don't match. They are too smooth. Is there a way to get around this please? Will it match better the more coats with the roller I do? Thank you!

Hi Kate
The texture is different due to the amount of layers already on the wall. I would recommend putting more layers on with the roller but quite thick to get a texture to blend in. Once you have done that then put a fresh coat all over the wall's not just the patched up areas. I hope this helps.

I would use a brush to add layers to the new area it will eventually blend in

hi kate,I would brush in the area required, then go over with a roller. allow to dry and see how it looks, It may be that you will then have to give the whole wall a fresh coat.

Hi Kate. Best thing to do in this case would be to take pole sander or hand sander and rub down whole wall until it will be smooth. Then just apply a coat or two of emulsion and this will definitely sort your problem out.
