Peeling paint on new plaster, even after a mist coat first

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.26 PM

I had my whole house replastered, which was undertaken some months ago. I have then applied a mist coat, approx 60:40 water:paint and now I've painted a top coat (probably another months down the line from the mist. So plenty of time to have dried sufficiently) and my paint in about 5 patches, has bubbled. And then can just be scrapped off. Why would it do this? I have then peel it off. Sanded to smooth my edges back in. Cleaned the area, remisted, repainted, and the same has happened. Am I missing a trick? Any help would be greatfully revieved.

Unfortunately sometimes this can happen ,PVA is fine but I'm not a big fan of that product,I would apply Zinnser Bin Primer sealer, if you buy the red can which is meths based it will dry within 10 mins and you will be able to sand, fill and re apply the paint to the bubbled areas Im sure this will sort out your problem

Try uni bond (pva) on bubbled patches leave over night then paint, make sure the pva is 50/50 with water.

Personally on new plaster I would pva the walls first with a 50/50 mix of pva and water, leave to dry for 24 hours then a good quality latex paint I.e Leyland, deluxe or crown would be my preference and usually 2 coats should be sufficient
