Will a plasterer skim over a wall that has dried bits of paint stuck to the plaster walls?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

I'm looking to get a bedroom plastered/skimmed. I've ripped all the lining paper off and I'm just left with bits of dried paint that is stuck to the plaster walls. I don't want to use a steamer in case I damage the plaster. I'm also worried about using a scraper for the same reason.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi,the paint will not cause a problem to the skimming, as the plasterer should prep the walls and pva them and then apply two coats of plaster over the top.. hope this helps..

Hi yeah once the pva is applied that will seal the walls ready for 2 coats of plaster as long as the paint isn't flakey and lose it will be fine
