Faulty electric shower & low pressure

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.07 PM

Hi, I recently moved into a new house and the shower is rubbish. The pressure from the shower is low and the water is only lukewarm even on its highest settings. The shower is a Mira Enthuse and looks the same as the model available to buy now so guessing it is not that old. It has been suggested that the thermostat has broken but been advised to replace the whole shower rather than just the thermostat. Is this the best option? Also, should I pay more for a shower with a built in booster for the pressure or are they not worth the extra money? From what I have read a power shower is a lot of additional work to fit rather than replacing a like for like shower. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi sophs6 Never would I bother repairing electric showers as a replacement part could be £40.00 and a complete new shower could be £80.00-£100.00. Is the shower old? Sounds like it might just need replacing as electric showers don't last very long, 7 years life expectancy. You need to find out what system you have in regards to power shower, you may just have low incoming mains pressure. Is the shower fed direct from mains or a tank? These are the things you need to find out before any work takes place. Hope this helps.
