Ask a questionBathroom Fitting
fitting a slightly smaller shower unit in place of the old one
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.26 PM
Hello I am needing to replace my ancient electric shower, but we are not looking to retile. I am having trouble finding one the same size - however I have found one that is 1cm wider, but its 3.5cm shorter in height - is there any way round this all all or do I definateley need to ensure the whole thing is bigger??

The reason you are finding it difficult to find one the same size, that fits nicely with the surrounding tiles is the fact that tiles are custom fitted around units. It would best to choose the shower tray that you most like, and instead of retiling, have your tiler remove just one tile length around the shower tray. If the exact tiles are not available the best route is to choose a similar coloured and textured mosaic. This will save you time and money, and most importantly will look deliberate.
