Drop in water pressure since cleaning out cold water tank

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

We've recently cleaned out our cold water tank as it had no lid and we wanted to clean out the debris. Since then, the shower has lost it's pressure and is very slow flowing. We're worried there's air in the system, or debris, and not sure how to clean the debris as don't think putting chemicals in our water supply is a good idea?

Hello, Il start by agreeing with you putting chemicals in your water supply is not a good idea. when you cleaned out your cold water cistern you may have not isolated the outlet which mean debris most likley have found there way down to your shower. Most showers have small filters which stop debris getting inside of them so you should be able to remove the shower and clean the filter. I would also recommend flushing some water from the pipes before connecting the shower back up as there could be some more debris still in your pipes. Removing the shower or filters may be a job for a plumber if this is beyond your DIY skills.

Hi Simone If the problem is only isolated to shower then i would be focusing on that. What shower is it? Will need to be isolated, broken down, cleaned and flushed through. The filter is most probably clogged up with debris. You may want to look at the shower head yourself if it can be unscrewed easily you could clean the shower head yourself. Would definitely steer clear of putting chemicals into a cold water storage tank.
